ALEXANDRA 'ALLY' HONGO 

Hi and thanks for being here!

I’m a Tokyo-based writer, editor, co-founder of content creation agency Shiitake Creative, and the former editor in chief of Savvy Tokyo, Japan’s largest women and families’ web magazine.

Over the past nearly a decade, I have written about Japan from all possible aspects worth reading about — travel, news, lifestyle and where to find the city’s best maternity massage venues. But my greatest passion is unleashed when I sit down for an interview with people.  Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to conduct exclusive interviews with legends like fashion designer Yumi Katsura, change-maker Shibuya Mayor Ken Hasebe, Naoko Yamazaki, the second Japanese woman to fly in space and the only one who did so while also raising a baby. It’s those stories that set the foundation of everything grand that happens later. And my mission as a writer is to keep finding these stories and sharing them with the world.

My articles have appeared in various publications including Japan Today, Savvy Tokyo, GaijinPot, Tokyo Weekender, The Mainichi, The Japanese Film Festival Magazine, Luxus Magazine and more. Ally is currently the co-founder and head of content at Tokyo-based creative agency Shiitake Creative.
